Extending a New Zealand Tourist Visa

    Hi all,

I know this is the wrong board to ask, but you guys seem to know it all, so...

I'm planning to visit New Zealand early next year, and will attempt to circumnavigate one of the two islands with a kayak. There is a very good chance that it will take over 90 days though, is there any way I can apply for a longer stay visa before I fly over? Or do I have to extend it while I'm there, towards the end of my stay?

    Thanks,

Um, well Im from New Zealand. I do not need a visa to come to Hong Kong, and I did not think you needed a Visa to visit NZ if you were a Hong Kong resident. I thought there was a visa free policy between HK and NZ. Sorry I could not be more help.. Maybe phone up the NZ embassy in HK.

You get a 90 day visa when you arrive here on an NZ passport, which is the same as the OP and since he wants to stay LONGER than 90 days, this is not helping him! I expect you can extend when you are there - try asking the NZ immigration dept they are pretty helpful. Or take a side-trip to Australia for a weekend and renew (not quite the convenient hop to Macau but you will want to warm up after spending all that time in NZ......)

That's a heck of a task you are setting yourself - the waters around NZ are pretty wild in places and the south of the south island is pretty cold.... Hope you know what you are doing

Anyway, back to the question ... reading the immigration website there are details on how to apply "if you are in NZ" which implies it's quite normal. This seems to be the right page to look at:
