WCDMA - many people in HK have a disease called "I love the place, I hate this place". Its a funny city - somedays its the greatest city in the world, others you want to bomb the place. Mostly because of the crowds, heat etc... (i could go on an on...)

The lowest level is singapore? Not Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunai?

HK for sure! It's not an oppressed society! More to do here, more to see, more buy, more to try. The people that come in and out of HK are also more interesting. More Europeans. But it's a transient city.

I moved from China a while back and also had a choice between Singapore and Hong Kong. I do like Singapore. I lived there for 5 years from age 25 and had a ball - it can be a lot of fun for single people as well as families. It holds great memories for me and I have a lot of friends there. I was in favour of moving back to Singapore but ended up in HK because of my partner's preference. Now that I have spent a year here, however, I don't think I would consider moving back to Singapore in the future. In fact, after only six months here we decided to buy a house. Hong Kong has so much more depth for me and is so much more of a real life somehow. I think it also depends on your future plans. If you are looking at a couple of years in the far east then Singapore might be very nice for you, but HK is a much better place to stay long term I think. Singapore just gets too small and bland after a while. Everything seems to stay the same. HK has so much more character - from the people to the dramatic scenery. The city has a dynamism that Singapore just doesn't have - so much more energy. And you have many more choices in terms of lifestyle. In Singapore you can live in a condo, a condo or a condo. In Hong Kong you can live on the beach in Shek O, an apartment in Happy Valley, a house in Saikung, you can live on one of the islands. There are so many lifestyle choices.

I'd recommend Hong Kong over Singapore: HK has more range and variety!

there's asiaxpat, singapore expat. the list goes on. you could try google or seek assistance from fellow singaporeans. hope this helps.

hong kong indeed has a lot more to offer than singapore but that being said, as a singaporean living in hk, there are occasions where i just go, why can't they just learn from singapore?

hk may not have the best beaches in asia, but at least it has a few. sg has, well...sentosa.

but i too was considering shifting to sg coz all of my friends chose to go there mainly due to the fact that they mainly speak english there. but if location and lifestyle is the only matter, i'd drag them to live here in hk instead.
