No, it's not a super typhoon anymore. Downgraded to category 1/2. And thankfully it looks like it's heading eastwards again.

Tropicalstormrisk has it changing direction again this morning - now back to a westward path, possible towards Vietnam, although given they have changed the path by 180 degrees in the last 12 hours I have to wonder if anyone actually knows!

Yeah, this one can't make up its mind.
Looks like anything is possible in the coming week.
Would not be surprised to see this one affect Hong Kong.

Pagasa: Stay alert for possible return of ‘Pepeng’ aka Parma to RP
(Updated 5:27 p.m.) With typhoon “Pepeng" still within the Philippine area of responsibility, another weather disturbance is threatening to enter the country's territory on Monday. State weather forecasters said the new disturbance may even pull "Pepeng" back towards northern Luzon

Let's just hope it comes here and gives us a holiday!

How come the Philippines has a different name for it? I thought all the Pacific rim countries agree on names in advance.

Quite strange although I'm guessing Melor might have influenced it.

They always give them their own names, no idea why.

I was in Manila yesterday - no rain (well, a few spots, nothing much) so at least Manila was spared. But apparently the first pass of Parma wrecked the rice crop in the north and now the second pass has prevented anyone salvaging anything from the crop. What a bummer for them.
