    how to transport elderly people?

anyone has a good idea how we can transport our grandparents?

they are very frail and have their own driver. however their car cannot drive into our place (park island) as cars cannot come in (during the time of the day when they are still awake).

the island does allow lorries to come in (license numbers starting with 2, or so we were told?) during the day. so are there any lorry/van types which would be good to transport elderly around, i.e. not much/no climbing up, etc?

    any ideas appreciated

Have you spoken to management, they might make an exception.

they are too frail for the ferry. they can barely walk 20 meters.

ferry will all the moving parts is too much for them unfortunately

You can rent wheelchairs from the Red Cross for only $80 a month (or something equally miniscule). And ferry staff are massively accomodating and helpful to wheelchair users. Could be an option.

I agree. Details of the Red Cross scheme. I think almost all public transport in HK is wheelchair accessible (although buses can only take one, which may be an issue if both your grandparents need one).

In theory you're right, but in practice it's not always that easy unfortunately. Some of the older MTR stations only have stairs at the last point, e.g. Sheung Wan, and there are still some bus routes that have older buses that don't have wheelchair access. Guess it all depends on where Cookie's grandparents are travelling from. If all else fails though, there are always taxis. Wheelchairs can go in the boot. And there's no extra charge for this like there is ordinarily for baggage.
