    I must have gone thru 10 or 12 T10 typhoons in HK when I was a teenager, and yet I can't remember any of them even tho there were high casulty counts. Go ahead and ask those who had gone though the some typhoons in the 1960/1970 in HK and see how much they'll remember them. However, if you ask any person in SF regardless of what age, he/she will remember exactly what he/she was doing when the 1989 quake hit.
    I'm not going to belittle the experience of living through an earthquake but yes, I certainly remember many of the typhoons in Hong Kong as I was growing up - including Super Typhoons Hope and Rose. My parents spoke of Wanda and Ruby.

    Hope was our last Super Typhoon direct hit, in 1979. For those who haven't live through one of those, it's nothing like what we've experienced in recent years, with the hoisting of T10.

    I hope it's a long, long time until we do.
