    i know this is totally off thread, but low mileage in a used car can probably mean more wear and tear than high mileage. I would hazard a guess that a car that has done stop/start work and never been at running temperature for more than 15minutes at a stretch probably has more wear on moveable parts than a car that has done 5 times the mileage on a good stretch of road.. for what its worth...

    You're dead right. However mileage always has an affect on residual values. In addition a company car that's done 100k miles is a bit different to a former hire car / taxi that's done the same. Everyone knows that no car is faster than a hire car!
