Hi all, I (together with some friends) will be undertaking a year-long drive to collect used items for re-distribution to the less fortunate in Malaysia.

I'm requesting that since a percent of you out there are of Indian decent, you would have old suits (men & women), dupatta or maybe even non-indian clothing items (men & women) that you would wanna throw out. We would happily collect them for you.

We would then enlist the help of some wonderful Aunties (willing to do seva) to sew them (if, for example, there are missing buttons, needing a zipper or just to fix a hem). At the end of the year we would send them to Malaysia and distribute the items around.

For items that are faded and beyond repair, we would then incorporate them into our craft pieces. All proceeds would go to charity.

The reason we asked for Indian items is that we are the minorities that get neglected when it comes to donations. We have done a couple of such drives in Malaysia (example, mehndi drives to collect funds, collection of used clothes and stationary, old gaudy jewellry items are taken apart to make various craft items).

We do not wish to discriminate anyone or offend. Please accept our sincere apologies if that is the case. In fact, we do look for charities that are in dire need of funds or donation and we put the rest on hold.

Sincerest of apologies,
Nikki
