The so called survey would probably have very different results if it was carried out by Asians measuring their standards of decorum and values, and the end finding would probably be that 'gweilos' are indeed 'gweilos', a strange bunch of people with strange ways.
There is no such thing as objectivity, as a universal standard. So who's right, who's wrong, good or bad is meaningless. The extent of your complaints is the extent to which you don't understand the other person and misrepresent them. However people are and how they treat you...get over it! It's nothing personal. How you would like to be treated, show by your own example. If they don't respond the way you would like them to, well, you've done the best according to you.
