Thanks for all that info. It is very reassuring. HSBC in Cockermouth,England was of no use at all!

    current account

Hi, is there anybody who can suggest me a good bank in shenzhen?
I just need the current account for having cash, i don't need credit card o cheques. Shortly, I need a place to deposit my money. I intend to stay in Shenzhen about 6 months. I'll be working as intern at the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Shenzhen. Are foreigners allowed to open a current account just for a short time?
thanks in advance for any suggestion!

Personally... i have no idea. Shenzhen falls under China, not HKSAR.

Maybe the 'Bank of China' is your best bet.

HSBC UK and HSBC HK are on different banking systems.
    Hence "The World's Local Bank"

From experience. Any HK bank know more about international banking than any UK bank, apart from CitiBank - Oh! By the way, they're really good. But i think there's only one branch in the whole of the UK.

Depends... If you have a friend who's willing to recommend you to the bank then NO, but if not, then you'll need to supply proof of address.

Hmm... wasn't I clear enough before?
