Would like to ship by air or by sea? Are the goods heavy? What's the value?

the goods are not too heavy, about 40kg. mostly garments and handbags. the value would be about USD2000. any leads would be greatly appreciated. sea freight is fine. which ever is more cost effective.

Handycam : there are a few logistics people on the site. I assume this is a regular shipment .. and not a one time only deal?

Less than 40KG and one time deal... just do it through Hong Kong post. They have pretty reasonable rates.

40 Kgs ... better to send by post .. wont cost a bomb ..
Might work out cheaper than freight as a lot of minimum charges would apply by air frt

yep, netfiend is right: the fixed charges for air freight are making it too expensive for 40 kgs. usually the break-even is at around 80+ kgs. or even more depending on the destination etc. for sea freight the fixed charges and therewith the break-even is even higher.

if you can wait, then i suggest to check with the "surface" rates HKG post and they will consolidate it on ships/trains etc. it'll take a few weeks to arrive, but it will be much cheaper than air parcels. you might still need to break it up into two shipments, as parcels with HKG post usually only allow 20 kgs. max per shipment. and don't forget to include insurance, as there are rumors that valuable surface parcels get easily lost.

Hong Kong Post offers a Bulk Parcel service will not accept commercial items ("Articles of commercial nature are not acceptable") and has a maximum of 30kg. Speedpost has a minimum of 50kg and two items.
