Alignment Study of Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel at Tseung Kwan O

Currently the roads to Eastern NT is quite congested so to solve this problem new roads are being built including a tunnel and a bridge.

There are a few options for the reclamation.

    Original - 12Ha
    New 1 - 9.5Ha
    New 2 - 9.5Ha
    New 3 - 3Ha

The scheme with less reclamation requires Autotoll only payment.

If you agree with less reclamation and not having people sat collecting cash in the 21st Century then please forward your written comments by mail to Civil Engineering and Development Department New Territories East Development Offi ce
Suite 1213 Chinachem Golden Plaza 77 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon; or
    by fax at 2721 8630
    by email at [email protected]

Also if you suggest variable tolls were adopted then this may be the last harbour front reclamation for road building!

Please could we have a link to details of the plan and the study rather than just the email to complain?

I found the government information at Tseung Kwan O - Lam Tin Tunnel and Cross Bay Link with the "alignment options" details at Tseung Kwan O - Lam Tin Tunnel.

As to the proposals - I'll take a look and decide for myself. I am not a fan of autotoll, in part because of complaints of sale of personal data of customers, in part because autotoll saves the toll operators money but costs the driver more, and in part because autotoll is not supported for more environmentally-friendly vehicles like motorcycles.

Whatever your thoughts, it's good to take a look at what government planning is going on.

That map doesn't show any of the planned reclamation. I'll post some photos of the existing shoreline later.

Option (3) The Straight Tunnel Option without Toll Plaza Island gets my vote.

    Nope, that's option 1, 2 and 3

Option 2 seems not feasible according to the report, so I guess we can cross that out.
