Skier Relocating to Hong Kong

Ok ok, I imagine that there is no skiing in the Hong Kong area.

However, I am wondering what are the options for the skier that does live in Hong Kong. Is it easy to get to a place to ski for a weekend? Maybe Korea? Or would it be more like a week-long trip, like to Japan?

I've heard that the South Island in New Zealand is fantastic skiing (akin to the Colorado Rockies.) Not exactly a short flight...but, anything for some nice powder!! I'll be planning a trip there eventually!!!

I've heard Japanese skiing is very icy.

I do not speak from experience though and would love to hear other's input on this as well.

Korea and Japan seem to be popular destinations. Mind you ... I've also heard that skiing in Asia is a bit of a culture shock when compared to say ... Colorado.
