Red face Having a dog in HK

    Hi there

We're from Spore, movign to Hk soon....i have a pet dog with me, jus a small maltese. Spore is a very friendly place for animals...prblem is i dunno about living in HK? What's the rules and regulations like? We intend to scout for a decent and nice serviced apartment to stay, but problem is, most of the serviced apartments near Central (where my husband is going to work) came back saying "Strictly NO PETS!" Help! I love my dog and MUST bring her over!

some of the apartments here say 'strictly no pets' but some people still keep dogs. u'd be surprised how these people can bring a labrador or golden retriever for walk at night. you'd be wondering how they manage to squeeze such a big dog in a 400 sq . feet apartment, but they can! if your dog barks a lot,, then, i suggest you stay in an apartment that allows dog. otherwise.. train it.. not to bark that much. people won't complain about you , unless your dog barks and howls into the night. good luck.

the only serv apt that takes dogs in central seems to be soho. book early because they fill up, we couldn't get one and wound up staying singapore (great world serv apt--excellent)until our apartment was ready. if you'll be here for a year or more, i'd get a furnished apartment rather than serviced with dog. other than that, i find hong kong to be more doggy friendly in many ways--most people seem to like dogs and even though you're not supposed to have them off leash, plenty do and have yet to see anyone have any trouble. lots more doggy goods available here too. good luck.
