I see. Shame you don't know someone in the UK.

Doesnt the UK have VoIP services where you can buy a UK number? They won't call a Skype number for example?

i think what i am understanding here is that ebay are upping the ante on ebay scams ..which is a good thing ...and to those of you that got registered or did a transfer a while ago its not an issue..but english speakers in hk are now caught in a check mate situation.

unfortunately we can talk about alternatives to ebay but using them is like cutting youself off from the rest of the planet.

i wish i had the local number for ebay!!

I always wondered why somone never set up an ebay drop shop in hk ..especially with a healthy secondhand market. Now tie it in with an ebay registration service and link up with a removals and shipping consultant and you might just have a workable business plan.

Instead of UK, try to register on ebay in USA. They DON'T verify the tel.number in USA. I know this for a fact since I just helped one of my friends in HK do this registration last week. All went through without a problem. After registration was accepted we changed all the addresses back to HK so she now has an English ebay site.
It's a pain in the behind, I agree! I've complained many times to ebay HK, but to no avail (yet...). They really should offer an bi-lingual site here.
