    Hotel with a Pool

A friend is coming to HK next year and is looking for a hotel with a pool that won't cost the earth.

Try your luck with City Garden Hotel, they got an outdoor swimming pool: http://www.citygarden.com.hk/ , the price is not too bad

Will check out City Garden thanks. Not sure if I would want to use public swimming pools on my vacation.

I stayed at the City garden earlier this year and can confirm the pool is actually quite good. The room was reasonable (there were 4 of us) and I have no complaints - the only problem was of course that it (the pool, not the room) had to be closed when a storm warning was issued. The pool water is cool but there is a nice hot tub next to it.

Another one you might want to consider is the Empire Kowloon, I stayed here in July. The pool is indoor and has a view right up the centre of the hotel, like a big chimney. Again the room was not bad for the money.

Last question ... were the pools of a standard size?

the city garden pool was a decent size, rectangular, not sure exact length, maybe 10m by 5, something like that. Definitely one for doing lengths.

Empire Kowloon was not as big and was also colder - despite being indoors. The shape was irregular and not the best for doing lengths. Still, great view up through the middle of the hotel though (and impressive looking down on it from the 30th floor).

Just checked both their websites and they are quite expensive (you obviously earn mega bucks!). I'm now looking at the Grand Stanford which seems to be more plush being part of the InterContinental Group and a little less.
