Angry PLEASE help me... I need advice!!!

My friends and I had purchased tickets to see the Mariah Carey concert (which was meant to be held at the end of Oct 06), and as some of you may know it was cancelled. We had purchased really expensive tickets (we're talking THOUSANDS here...) directly from the concert organiser (One Group / Concerts Asia) instead of from HK Ticketing, as they had "better" seats reserved firsthand.

Upon making the cancellation announcement, everyone was advised that tickets purchased from the organiser would be refunded their money within 30 days of providing their bank account info. It has now been 40 days since I sent them my info (via email), and they kept reassuring me the refund would be 1) paid within 30 days, 2) they would notify me once the refund was made, and 3) after I chased them up last week they said they were going to look into it and would get back to me. All of which they NEVER did as they promised.

The most frustrating thing is that you can't contact them directly over the phone anymore, they still have a phone line for refund enquiries but it's only an answer phone - you HAVE to leave a voice message, but you never know if they're going to reply to you. AND I've just been to their website again today (http://www.concerts-asia.com/), and apparently they're going to be "closed" for the holidays starting tomorrow (14th Dec) until the 7th Jan 07!

I'm really worried because of everything that has happened (or HASN'T happened) so far, and the fact that I know they are in a lawsuit against Mariah Carey's company. What if they just decide to stop replying all emails and voice messages, or even worse, close down the company all of a sudden?!?!

My friends and I don't know what to do at all - PLEASE HELP US!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!

Call them tomorrow and threaten to call the police if you do not receive your money. Let them know you've written about this situation on a website about Hong Kong.

If this doesn't work, call the Consumer Council. You can take them to Small Claims over this.

Agreed. Take them to small claims. I don't think letting them know about an internet posting will intimidate them. Neither will leaving a msg about a lawsuit. The best thing to do is just serve them the summons.

If they are located in HK, look them up at the companies registry to find out where their address is and who the directors are and even where the directors live. Go knock on their door.

Did you purchase the tickets via CC? If you did, simply call your CC company and file a chargeback.

Thanks, I will check out the Consumer Council and see if they can help me. Although I'm totally furious at them (I have already thought of all the different "angry" ways of dealing with them), but I must admit leaving them threatening messages on their voicemail or email isn't really going to work, if they really don't want to pay me.

I just went to the Companies Registry and looked them up (http://www.icris.cr.gov.hk/csci/), they're listed under "ONE GROUP LIMITED". But all it tells me is their registered company name and when they were first registered - how can I get hold of who the directors are and where their registered office is? I'd definitely knock on their door if I knew!

Unfortunately because they were selling the tickets privately, we were only allowed to pay by cheque or cash. We paid by cheque in one lump sum - so we didn't pay by credit card.

Bring along the receipt of that company to the Consumer Council, they will have the way to trace it.

I would give 'em an angry warning first. If that didn't work, I'd take action. You never know, yelling at people sometimes does get the ball rolling.

By the way, I bought tickets for the Robbie Williams Concert (via HKTicketing), and it also took 8 weeks or so until the money was refunded to my account...

Thanks very much, I'll see if I can get in touch with these people and whether they can be of help!
