    Electricity Bill

My electricity bill for the last 2 months was $1800 ($900 per month). I know it was the middle of summer and aircon is not cheap to run. But I wonder if this is about right or not.

My apartment is 1178sqf, 5 aircons (but usually only use 1 or 2 at a time on on high temp setting), gas hot water in shower (no electricity), gas stove (no electricity). So its really only the aircons and fridge that should be consuming the bulk of the power.

What are other people paying during the summer months for electricity?

Would seem about right. BTW, the gas heater does use electricity, albeit not to heat the water.

    Sounds about right!
We pay about $800-1000 for our 1100 sqf apartment, using electricity for aircon, fridge and dehumidifiers.
We use only 1 aircon at a time in full blast - for about 10 -12 hours a day and a dehumidifier for about 8-10 hours.

Mine was substantially higher then normal this past billing too. I was wondering if electric costs increased? I don't save my old bills to compare so I don't know.

Ditto with Kreeaytor, but from 1400ft2, but only for the peak 2 months, the rest of the year our Electricity costs drop to barely $350 - $450 per month on average..

I wish our power bill in Australia was as cheap, you will die of fright when you see your first $4500AUS electricity bill ha ha. I wouldn't be complaining, HK electricity is cheap as chips.

Thanks guys. I was just wondering. I see the little bar graphs at the bottom of my bill and they are getting higher and higher every month. $900, $1200, $1400, $1600, $1800. I hope now that summer is over they start going the other way.

Yup - sounds about right. Remember also washing machines use a fair bit (particularly if you have a tumble dryer), as does running a computer 24x7.

Last winter my bill (which was $1300 last month - I'm home a lot) was down at around $200-250.

I feel a bit depressed about my aircon bill too, its been hitting around $1000 during the peak of summer. It started going down last month, hoping it will go down further as its cooler now.
