I wish I could find someone legal to work part time for me.

I'm so dissappointed that every single person who responds to my ads for various positions are all ILLEGAL. I am sick of having no one to interview. What the heck?

As I understand it, if you want part time help you will have to employ a local helper, not one from overseas (such as Phillipines). Overseas helpers are only allowed to work here if they are sponsored as full-time and thereafter are not allowed to work for anyone else other than their sponsor (there can be exceptions, but 1 in a million).

Bungle -- MMMM - if only that where true in reality eh !

HKNewBi is right. Go speak to an agency . You will find some in the local SMALL malls near to you I 'll wager. In Tiakoo they are over the road from Jusco. Many people have day cleaners and there are organised through the agencies.

That's an over-generalisation. There are thousands of Filipinas and other foreign citizens who have the right to work in Hong Kong without restriction either through being Permanent Residents, or through holding a Dependent Visa (through being married to a PR or someone on an Employment Visa).

The people you cannot employ part time are people in HK on a Foreign Domestic Helper visa.

Have you already tried to find a legal part-time helper through HK Labour Department? http://www.jobs.gov.hk

We've found a great helper within two days of posting the ad there.

I'm not sure goodkarma is looking for a helper specifically - probably more a part-time office / admin type person (which is going to require somewhat more in terms of office and communication skills), but I guess the Labour Department does them too.
