Why isn't the upcoming Monday a public holiday?

The Chung Yeung Festival is on this Saturday, right? I thought if we get a bank holiday during the weekend, we get the following Monday off.

Someone told me if a public holiday falls on a Saturday it doesn't move over to the following Monday. If it falls on a Sunday then it does fall over on a monday.

Don't understand the logic and someone else might be able to help.

Because Saturday is classed as a working day. Those that still work Saturdays, and a lot of local companies do, are happy to have the day off.

Oh, okay. Almost forgot that some people work 6 days a week here in Hong Kong.

It's a right bummer for those of us that don't work Saturdays.

i would hazard a guess and say it's not "some people here work saturday" but rather, "most" people here work saturday.

...yes. Happy to have the day off. Not concerned that Monday isn't going to be a holiday, and will be making the best of the 'long' weekend.
