Participants also prayed for clergy who died in prison and those in detention, including Bishops Cosmas Shi Enxiang of Yixian and Su Zhimin (Zhemin) of Baoding.

“A lot of people are still under surveillance or have disappeared. We who are lucky to live our faith peacefully have the responsibility to remember them,” said Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-kiun, retired bishop of Hong Kong during the evening prayer following the Way of the Cross.

He criticized China’s government as “a system that forced people to lie” while he praised Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo’s efforts to speak out.

What's the difference between the Chinese government and the Christian God?

Nothing. They both condemn people if people rebels, and don't believe in their beliefs.

There're gonna be a lot of people burning in hell from China on the second coming of Christ *sizzle sizzle*.

    I beg to differ "RayA".

The government on the mainland is corrupt and crude, persecuting innocent old women in order to maintain its one-party rule.

God is pure and righteous, and persecutes nobody unjustly.

Your English is getting much better. Keep trying!

Of course, you beg to differ, squidy.

I never knew! - So, mainland China, being the most populated country in the world, persecutes old ladies in order to maintain a one-part rule. I had no idea.

Exactly, how does "persecuting innocent old women" maintain a one party rule in a country dominated by men and where men, till date, see women as objects?

Yes, you're right. God is so pure and righteous, and 'persecutes' nobody unjustly!

I hate not having a religion. That's why I'm, at the moment, figuring out which religion to choose. Your religion, Christianity, seems plausible... given the eternal life plan and all. Not to mention Santa Claus!..since it's almost time he got ready to fly around the world in a day. But, something seems so fishy about the whole circumcision thing.

While abroad, my host family took me to church ever Sunday and I sat there listening to the preacher talk about God. See, the thing I realized after my time in church was not about believing in god, but it was about being a nice person. I got weirded out by old hags raising their hands in the air while singing hallelujah.

My English is getting much better? Well, thanks to your mom Mrs. Octopussy.
    I love seafood.

Not half as irritating as demented senior citizens walking backwards into pedestrian hotspots while helicoptering their arms -- some sort of exercise supposedly.

That has to be one of the most demented things I have read on here for a while. Christianity, circumcision?

He doesn't ask much though does he really? Believe, ask for forgiveness and try not to sin. Your choice....

Asking people to believe that the eternal and omnipotent Creator who embodies love would choose to redeem humanity by torturing his only son to death is asking a lot. It is also asking people a lot not to sin if your definition of sin includes such things as using birth control.

"Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy, if you try... No hell below us. Above us, only sky."

    "Hello, nei haau?"
    I'm good.
"Oh, you speak English. So good! *shows whitest teeth*"
Yeah, yeah. So, what's this about?
"Well, first, let me ask you a question."
    Okay...
    "Do you believe in God?"
Well, it's not that I don't believe in God, it's just that I haven't been convinced yet.
"Well, firstly, God is real. God is.... "
*shows me the cover titled "Jesus Christ and the Latter-day Saints.*
    Mormonism!
"Have you come across this before?"
Yeah, I actually read about 1/3 of it. Well, up until Jews were being depicted as "Monsters." That's when I got bored. Anyways, listen, I gotta run. See you around. Keep doing the good work.

Ancient Greek Religion - Greek mythology - is probably the most fun religious book to read. We think the world isn't related with it anymore, but it actually is. First month 'January' for example, comes from the Greek god, Janus, who's related with time.
We're most acquainted with stories of Hercules, Zeus, Medusa, and Pandora, (recently, Perseus), but there are other stories of Gods, half-Gods, that are more interesting. Apollo is my favorite.
And, at the end of it, to think that at one point people worshiped them.
