    Question Electric Room Heaters

    Hi Guys,

I came here last September so it's my first time to experience HK winter. I know it's the latter half of winter already but is it still advisable to buy a room heater at this time?

    Thanks..

You could get one now, if you want to. Have a look around, they might be having sales on the heaters. Get the oil ones. Think they are better, safer and consumes less electricity. But I don't know how long the cold will last. It's my first winter in HK as well.

If you are staying for another winter I would invest in an oil-filled radiator as sunniefaith says. I have owned one for ten years. I also have one of those electric dish radiators for instant heat for those "brass monkey" days.

thanks, guys. there's a new room heater technology now. it's micathermic. the heaters radiate heat on one side. this got the same heating capacity as those of oil-type heaters per watt but this so lightweight that it's well suited to be mounted on walls.

    Thumbs up

Fortress, Gome, any mainstream appliance store. You'll easily notice those. One saleslady said it's just around 2 years old technology. Same heating power with the oil heaters but just a fraction of the weight - you can easily carry it with one hand. Very cool!

But I wonder if it would be as cheap in HK as in US.

Thanks for introducing us to this product.

I found this (or similar) model @ Fortress.
It's oil based heater. I am generally biased to oil based heater as I had good experience w/ the delonghi brand when I was in US.
