    Lunar eclipse

Is there expected to be a lunar eclipse tonight in HK? I know some countries are going to be able to see this.

A little research suggests the eclipse starts at 2018 UTC, entering totality about 2.5 hours later. The moon will rise in Hong Kong at 1757 tonight and set at 0615 tomorrow morning.

In other words, the early part of the eclipse should be visible from about quarter past 4 tomorrow morning, but the moon will already have set here by the time it reaches totality - that is, you should be able to see a partial eclipse here, if you're willing to go look for the moon very early on Sunday morning, but you're not going to see a total eclipse...

The other way to do it, of course, is just to stay out all night - but then everyone around here is so quiet and mature that there's no chance of that happening, right?

According to the HK Observatory, the next visible total lunar exclipse (after tonight's one) will be on 28 August 2007. Not sure what time it will be visible howerver.

Not much here, except just a posting of the date...

Well I could not stay out all night to see the eclipse OR wake up early in the morning for it. So, obviously I missed it. But, thanks for your replies!
