    ITunes

Can you purchase songs from iTunes in Hong Kong? Doesn't seem to work for me unless I change all my details back to my old Sydney address.

No. Only the app store works, but not the music store.

Depending on what credit card you use when you sign up your account, the itunes app and music stores look different. If you use an Aussie credit card, you get the Aussie app store and music store. If a HK credit card, you get only the app store and no music store.

My wife is Japanese and got an iphone 4 in HK recently. So to make sure she can download Japanese apps and music, I signed up with a Japanese issued credit card.

It gives me the shits sometimes because simple apps like "CNN iphone app" are not available at all on the Japanese itunes store and there is no way for me to install this app now unless I jailbreak the phone.

You can buy US Itunes credits online from third party sources as well.
