    Pre-wedding Photos

My fiance and I are interested in getting some pre-wedding photos. Unfortunately I'm not a banker or some corporate exec so my budget isn't huge. Does anyone have any information on affordable pre-wedding photo packages? Or would finding a photographer and renting the outfits separately be a cheaper alternative? Any advise would be wonderful. Thanks!

the pre wedding photos are a must in Hong Kong for Hongkongers. but the companies really do take the pi$$ out of it, it's a real money making machine. The packages are expensive and you get a fixed number of photos, but if you want anymore photos (and believe me you will once you see them) then they are individually priced. I went to 2 of them, and both were just as biting as the other one.
I did hear though that Macau and Taiwan pre wedding photos are cheaper, but of a lesser quality and mostly it's all "green" landscape if you know what i mean. Their interior photos aren't really good.... but they are relatively cheaper than hong kong. However... you need to weigh up the flight costs, time off etc to get there. For us personally, we didn't just didn't have the time nor we wanted the hassle. But a lot of hong kong couples do go over there for their pre wedding pics.
You should head down Kimberley Road in TST for the pre wedding pics if you decide to stay in hong kong, the whole 2 streets are lined with them.
    goodluck!!!

Try going to one of the wedding expos as many companies will have a booth where you can browse their albums and talk to the staff. They usually have good "expo" package prices too. Our full day wedding shoot in HK cost 11000, which included makeup and dress/suit hire.

Look up Zosia Zachariah on the web; she gave us a great deal for pre-wedding photos and was excellent.

but would your missus allow you to do that, some mainland bridal photographic techniques and clothes seem to be stuck in the late 80's and 90's, hence, only a small percentage of hongkongers/oversea born chinese choose them during the wedding expo.

taiwan, japan and malaysia is a much better option

the problem in hk, is that the two main ones ( apparently have 85% of market) are subsidaries and are suspected cartels, hence, why they are so expensive, however, their portifio do seem to persuade the majority of hk females/chinese to take them up.

Do it in Macao then - still much cheaper.

My friends did the shooting themselves, and it was a lot of fun. They have both family and their parents went out on the streets and shot whatever they felt like. They even "made" a headline on the SCMP!!

Some people get lovely photos in Macau. I think the main thing is to have a good look through their albums and make sure it's the style you want. Secondly, some places will have good package prices but they try to upsell you when you go to choose your photos. This is where you are most vulnerable! Make an agreement with your fiance before you go in to stick to the package, help and back each other up when the other starts to waver.
Thirdly, check exactly what is included and whether you need them. UV coating? The jpg files? Photoshopped photos? IMHO the photoshopping is necessary
