Question Monthly expense for two people

Is $40k enough for 2 people? including rent? (assuming rent is about $15k)... any thoughts? how much for all the other stuff esp transportation and groceries?

It's twice the median household income in Hong Kong, so yes it must be possible.

But then again, that depends on your lifestyles as well. If you eat out all the time and where you eat at. Or if you decide to shop at Citysuper.

just comparing expense for us right now in NYC... about $3k rent and $2k everything else (USD) so thinking $5k x 8 = $40k/month. But again, lifestyle has alot to do with it. I'm not sure if i wanna spend over $20k for rent in HK tho... maybe $15k in the outskirts. Yeah, alcohol is expensive in HK but luckily trying to cut down on drinkie drinkies... :-)

You don't need to spend more than 15K on rent. They are plenty of places with great appartment/view/facilities (swimming pool...)... between 7K and 15 K and they are not very far from the center. Take Olympic City as an example....15 minutes from Central by MTR and rents are between 9 and 12K...they are plenty of other examples...

that's very motivating to know! Will be hard to adapt to lack of space when we move to HK. But can't wait - really look forward to it. Such a dynamic place!
