    Facebook,myspace anyone?

Do you guys use any websites like facebook and myspace? I use both. I am addicted to facebook a lot but I don't know why.

Here is the question I sort of don't get. Why are they getting popular quickly? Myspace has lots of bots around and bug you how hot they are..ugh.. We can meet friends use forum like geoexpat, but it seems myspace and facebook etc websites get more popular than forum. Why???

I check facebook daily to see what's up in the news feed and browse around a bit. I use facebook as a link to connect with people I thought I'd never see.. I can't believe I've been able to know and say hi to high school and elementary school classmates that I hadn't seen in years. A couple of them go as far as my kindergarten class!

I know a couple of my friends recently saw each other during Easter break after going their separate ways after high school which I found to be very cool. I don't think it would've been possible if they didn't find each other on facebook.

The profiles (depending on how much each person puts in there) is exciting to see to know where people are and what they're doing. If it wasn't for facebook, I wouldn't of known a couple of my high school friends are fathers and a couple others are either engaged or married.

Forums are more for people of the same interest to discuss topics relating to each other. Since Geoexpat is one for expats in HK, it's only suiting to have a variety of sub-forums discussing various topics relating to HK. And since we're all located in HK anyways with it's convenient public transit system, it's only suiting we're able to meet up for stuff more often.

Oh the way you use facebook is sort of different from me. I randomly add people in there sometimes. I found facebook is quite annoying in this way, once you join the Network, for me I have couples friends and co-workers in Toronto, I cannot search any friends from Hong Kong. I can only ask my friends to add me or I add them.

Another problem I got is that I cannot find some friends of mine in facebook. I have tried to search their full name but their profile don't show up.

I'm glad someone in here using facebook. I have asked many friends in Hong Kong and answered me either no or no idea what facebook is.

I use facebook and most of my friends use it too. More convenient to keep in touch with people abroad. Addicted to facebook myself and its improved since it initially started. More and more people are starting to know about it too although in HK and asia people tend to know myspace and friendster better.

Does anyone here over the age of... say, 30... use MySpace? I've been wondering a lot about this. The only people I know who use it are GenY or younger.

My friends tend to be quite tech-savvy, but only my younger relatives use MySpace.

(I'm not bashing it,- am genuinely curious!)

I am a facebook addict. I went to school here and quite a lot of the people I went to school with have facebook. It's a way of keeping updated about what people are doing and where they are - quite good if you grew up in HK as people you knew end up all sorts of places

i'm a facebook addict too, i've finally come out of denial about it.
i use it also to catch up with people i haven't seen in years- elementary school friends, high school friends, etc. amazing the people you'd find that you thought you'd never hear from again.
it's one of the few ways i can keep in touch with a ton of people all at once with the least amount of effort.

Wow, some Myspace users in HK?! That's news to me! I've only started using Facebook since they started allowing non-edu email addresses to be used and some of the local HK students are starting to use it as well. I'm a college student but I never got an actual school email address... it's easier for all of us to just use our own... and our school email server was just bad.

I can always use more Facebook friends... so far it's all HK exchange and a few local students. Here's my profile:

My Myspace has been slow since coming to HK too, so feel free to add the few HK Myspace users there are...
