Or Batman in The Dark Knight. He crashed through a window though, so they don't allow it anymore.

hehe, yes, but those replies precedes the Batman filming by about 5 months, so it was definitely Lara's fault...

Hong Kong needs to get it's shit together and build a dropzone!

Prostitution is legal but skydiving is frowned upon? I call shenanigans.

Prostitution is legal in almost all civilised countries. The problem with sky-diving is simply a problem of lack of airspace for non-commercial traffic.

Yesterday I saw people paragliding/skydiving (can't really tell which one) in between the Sai Kung and Sha Tin area. But considering that I had no clue where I was, I would hazard a guess and say it's closer to Sai Kung cause I remember seeing a road signage with that name. As for what group or school prepared the event, I don't know either, but at least now you know there is skydiving or paragliding available!

Paragliding and skydiving are quite different things (skydivers basically only go downwards, paragliders are flying and hope to go upwards as well as donwards). There are several paragliding spots around the territory - the ones you saw were almost certainly launching from the plateau to the south of Ma On Shan (the hill, not the town). Depending on whether they catch the thermals just to the north then they either land back where they started or somewhere down towards Sai Kung / Hebe Haven.

There is plenty of airspace for non-commercial traffic, the problem is the upper limit of the airspace. Skydivers need to open their pack at 2000-5500 feet depending on the skydivers experience. The upper limits of HK "flying zones" are mostly at 2000-2500 feet (only to the east at MIRS BAY and NINEPINS it's 3500 feet). Imagine the mess if jumbo jets would have to look out for this guy when they approach Hong Kong, that's why they keep them low and out of their way.

The limit for paragliders is 2000ft too. The zone on HK island only 1300 feet if my notes are correct, don't ask me why. Maybe because of the antenna farm to the west of it.
