Creative Types - How much do you charge for a logo design?

How much would you charge to design something as vile as this logo?

Looks like vomit to me, to be honest and reminds me of the million the local HK govt threw away for the "brandhk" nonsense.

    More on here..

    (GBP 400K is the answer)

The problem is that designers and artists are being chosen on the basis of the art schools they graduated, and if they graduated, and on their paper CV's, rather than the quality of their work.

Businesspeople and politicians, who choose logos like this, are notoriously bad judges of art.

    Regarding this design:
    1. using diagonals conveys a sense of action, which is ok for the olympics

    2. the hard edges and sharp angles reinforce the dynamism of sports but give the logo too military a look

    3. One must always be careful using yellow, and almost as careful with red, since they are strong, dominating colors.

    4. One should avoid putting too much white in an image, since it breaks up the composition.

    5. This image commits the double sin of putting a lot of white next to a lot of yellow, which do not mix at all.

    >> double sin

Not to mention it looks like graffiti on a garbage dump.

(Sorry.. could not resist that ...)

the most colorful description I've heard so far: "a comical orgy between the simpsons characters..."

actually it reminds me of the "this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs" advertisements back in grade school
(goes without saying that the above logo would be the "on drugs" brain, hahaha)

    what a piss-off!

    it's really quite disturbing that £400 000 = vibrating kool-aid.

at first glance, it doesn't even capture the branding of world olympics. really, what the fuck?!

I have to say, that London 2012 logo is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. They should of hired the same agency who did Chicago's logo:

Sky line, Sears Tower, Olympic Torch.. all in one.
