Indeed. I wonder how during the English summer one can even tell whether a typhoon has arrived.

Because the days are longer than in the winter.

Sorry Mercury, here is the track to HK. Plenty of time for it to change though.

Thanks Hull. Lets see if it changes. My ship visit is planned this Saturday and its rare that our ship is scheduled to come to Hong Kong on a weekend, that has Indian staff onboard.
I hope its not cancelled coz of typhoon

To keep on track. Yes, we will watch this typhoon shaping up for the rest of the week.

But luckycat... WTF. Stench of the stag. That conjures up some pretty ugly thoughts as to the source of the stench! Can't your pals afford better hookers?

Sorry for the personal question, but I am very curious, mercury - do you work on a ship?

That is only the designation given by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, if the system develops further (i.e into a tropical storm), an "official" name will be assigned to it (i.e. Typhoon Kai-tak).

Just out of curiosity, for you Brits, has a hurricane or tropical storm ever reach the shores of UK? If I am not mistaken, 99% of all hurricanes and tropical storms in the Atlantic disappear by the time it passes Newfoundland (assuming it recurves along Florida, then up the eastern coast of the US following the gulf stream).
