How to send a guitar to the USA

My daughter wants to take her guitar with her from Hong Kong to college in Connecticut. We've read Delta's rules - apparently you can take it as a carry on if there's enough room on the plane, but she has so much stuff that she'll need a proper carry on as well as her two permitted suitcases.

Has anyone posted a guitar to the US? Sent it with a moving company? Not sure of options, and would love to hear from anyone else who's done it.

    Thanks

Unless this guitar is something really special, I'm guessing that you can buy one on the other side cheaper than trying to ship it from here.

You can pick up an acoustic guitar for around $100, an electric for not much more.

I'd carry the guitar and send some of the other stuff via fedex or the like.

when i moved to hk from the US back in 2006, i think it was like 100USD to send another big suitcase through the airlines. I had checked in 4 total. It was definitely the cheaper option back in the day then to try fedex-ing or something like that. Plus you could have everything right on arrival rather than waiting for items to arrive. Worth a look if you haven't already done so although i can imagine it's much more than 100usd now.

Thanks everyone - we'll think upon it.
