If it anything like new year - which I made the mistake of trying to view from the waterfront in tst a few years back - it will be a huge crush, unless u queue for hours won't get anywhere or see anything so you need to be IN a building. No way on earth I would take a kid to what I experienced. We got to about 200m away from water, in Nathan Rd, which was closed to traffic - SOLID scrum of people unable to move forward or back. Awful. So if u go anywhere go early, book a place and stay late after crowd disperses.
    Personally I'll stay at home.

What about in TST West, in front of the ICC building? Maybe less of a crush. I don't know, never been.

    No better place than home

OP, try Hunghom by the old Ferry Pier on Kowloon side. It's not the same circus as in TST.

SS, the view is usually better on Kowloon side because u have the skyline behind.

Cheers! Hmmm, sounds like an avoid to me. Maybe try and watch from a high building somewhere.

SS-there is an Indian/Italian fusion resteraunt HK side that will have good views of the fireworks from their terrace. Sorry, can't remember the name but sure someone here will.

Downside is you have to buy tickets in advance and go to the place to collect them before the day, not convenient, and for around $1000 for two the buffet on offer is absolute shite.

    Just found it :-

    DUETTO (formerly The Viceroy)
    2/F Sun Hung Kai Ctr.,
    30 Harbour Road,
    Wanchai, Hong Kong

The fireworks are at 9pm. Is the exception you mention for the public holiday?
