This hangs on the wall of Crema that purveyor of fine coffee in tst east
Alas the minions there have no clue as to its origins
Any idea what its called and who it is by?
I get vague flashbacks of the singing detective but get no further

Hi
It's a repoduction of a painting by the American artist Edward Hopper entitled "Nighthawks" (1942)
Nicky
thank you for what must be the promptest rely on this forum
and here I was wondering for almost two weeks
If you're ever in Chicago, you can check out the original in the Art Institute.
This painting often appears in US popular culture and even has a famous alternative created by Gottfried Helnwein in the 80's. Its often sold as a poster in the US called the "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and has the original three diner customers from the Nighthawk replaced by James Dean, Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe being served by Elvis.

yes I'm sure the original at 3'x5' would be an awesome sight.
Unfortunately it has been copied to such an extent that it has become a parody of itself
