before midnight, you can text 98077839 or call him up (Ricky), speaks English, tell him exactly where you want picking up and where you want to go. 5-10 mins before is ok. you will get a call back or text with taxi license number so that you can identify the vehicle.

i even use him when i fly back from business trips, i tell him date and flight number and he will monitor the flights so that the taxi driver will be waiting for me when i land at car park #3.

yes and no, sharing the usefull info to other memebers and hope for the best plus help him increase his business (not that I gain anything) but this guy has been good and provided good service to me. Not much to compromise, he might get some spam calls but we get it all the time even without disclosing the our numbers.

And, if you're desperate, many taxi's will negotiate..
E.g. wave down a taxi, any taxi, approach the drivers window and tell him you want to go to the other side of the harbour, and say "one way tunnel charge" - depending on their mood/level of desperation for a fare, they may grant you your wish

As for discount taxis - does anyone have a reference for an english speaking taxi driver/taxi network controller that operates in the west N.T ? (I guess they mostly operate everywhere though)
I used to use Ricky as well....but we are not on good terms any longer

Ma Wan is open to taxis from November so you should now not get any fine coming here, (except for 7am to 10am).

Weekends its still closed to taxis though unless after 8pm.
