For someone who was on the winning side, you come across as a little angry. By the way, what do you think of cold blooded Rita Fan?

You can also say the same for other countries. In the US its just either Republican or Democrats. You either have the money and influence to be part of their party or don't play at all. So what can any independant achieve?
Ditto for UK Conservative or Labour. Those that represent their party have to on the whole toe their party line.
In India there is nepotism whereby anything associated with big business, power and influence gets elected.
Don't get me started on the Phillipines... anything ending with Aquino, Estrada or Marcos occupies the senatorships.. again what is there for the others?
OK, so let me try to summarize that - the US have a two-party system, therefore the Pan-Democrats in HK deserved to be trounced (only that they weren't)?
I don't know where your idea of democracy comes from, but it does not mean that everyone gets what he wants. It does not mean that you get good (or a peaceful) government either. It simply means that you need to get a majority of the electorate to vote for you if you want to rule. And here in HK, having a (quite big) majority in the popular vote does not allow you to form a government, and this is why HK is not a democracy.
