Putting aside the rule of law and history, what could HK offer in the next 30 years that would be unique from say Shanghai?
By then the new generation would not have experienced colonial rule.

If HK is to be different then it must possess something in 30 year's time that would set it apart.
Culture - Nothing different then from the rest of Southern China
Language - Nothing there
History - Nothing there except being an ex-British colony. In fact Shanghai has some uniqueness about it and their history and preservation makes it truly unique
Infrastructure - Nothing there
People - Same as in Southern China
In 50 years Shenzhen, Macau, Zhuhai and Hong Kong will be one big city nd no visa will be needed to travel freely, as soon as that happens, HK will immediately be the least desirable of the four. For me, the only bit that's better about HK is it's independence and culture.
