    smelly laundry

    Hi

Does anyone else have this problem. My laundry smells okay when I put it on, but once the shirt, t-shirt whatever heats up it releases a sort of mouldy smell. I'm guessing it's because stuff takes so long to dry here. I was in Canada for 2 weeks and had my clothes done at a laundromat and they were fine (tumble dried). I've had my helper switch on a de-humidifer next to the drying clothes but this doesn't work either. I could tumble dry at hoe but then everything seems to come out 2 sizes smaller. Should I just start using the neighbourhood laundrette instead?

Idea - do your own laundry as it will smell of the detergent you like and then take it wet to your local and they will dry it. You can ask them to turn the setting down so it does not fry. If you don't speak Canto have someone write it for you.

I had exactly the same problem, my clothes smelt like they had been languishing in a cat litter tray after storing.

After weeks of experimentation I now use Persil washing powder, Comfort conditioner and the Dettol Laundry Sanitiser (in with the conditioner). My clothes now smell "normal". Hope this helps.

Nope, not a writer. In my previous UK based life I was an Art & Design / Study Skills librarian in a University.

Now? Weighing up my options and watching lots of comedy dvds such as Mighty Boosh, Peter Kay, Brass Eye, Kath & Kim and various other warped, non-traditional offerings.

NickyC's advice is great. Also, if you have a tumble dryer, put small amounts of clothes (half a load or so) in there for a short period of time (15-30 minutes, this way they won't shrink) instead of until they are entirely dry and take them out and hang dry near the dehumidifier afterwards. They'll finish drying quickly, be fluffy and smell great.
