    Fun at Dinner

I was at dinner last week with some friends when I noticed something strange on the next table. There were four girls and two guys. All were chatting except for one of the guys who was far too busy reading his comic! I noticed earlier that he was one of the last to turn up to the dinner party. He must have read that comic for atleast five minutes uninterrupted. Then unbelievably this was topped by a guy on a table of two guys and two girls who pulled out his Nintendo DS and continued to play a game. Is this what you've seen around town?

Aren't you used to it by now? I've seen couples at dinner, catching the mtr or just hanging out playing with their NDS or PSP. It used to surprise me but guess I'm used to seeing that. But have to say that I'll be offended if any of my friends do that to me.

    This is quite common here
I have a Chinese friend who invariably pulls out his shrinkwraped Apple Daily once we have been seated.
That is rather extreme, but I am sure you have seen people staring at a comic book while walking, or walking while looking at the ground. All part of the same introverted behaviour instilled in them by their parents

I went to a wedding China a while back and the bridegroom played on his PSP for most of the do.
His missus wasn't particularly ugly !!

What makes me laugh is not the insensitivity and rudeness of the comic reader or nds player but how their friends are oblivious of and accepting of these childish antics.

If a friend of mine was doing that while we were out dining, I'd tell him to go home with his damn game boy. Seriously, if you're gonna act like you don't want to be there then you might as well leave. I also hate those people who play with their cell phone while you're talking to them, ugghh, look me in the eyes you damn anti-social nerds.
