Unhappy Lost my wallet in a taxi from Tung Chung to Tsing Yi this morning past 1 am...

It's a long wallet , dark brown hopes the taxi driver or the next passenger drops it to any police station, coz it will be useless to them hk id, atm card, visa cards, octopus cards , cheques, cash around more than 1k some important receipts, which i really need. I already made lost report to the banks , cancelled my cards, octopus . never expected to get back the cash, only the important stuffs to avoid the big troubles of re applying and everything but if there's miracle i want it now, hope there's a good samaritan out there. I also called the lost and found taxi no. but they just get my info. I already went to the police station to make a report..which i used to get money from the bank. very big trouble! sigh ! I really felt miserable.....

I asked for a miracle and i got it, after 1 week since i lost my wallet in tsing yi, the good samaritan dropped my wallet at central police station. i got a call from a police asking me about my lost property.everything was there and 1080.cash. coz it's hidden at the back of the photo of my daughter, maybe he/she never bothered to search it. i lost around 200. $ and all the coins. my hkid was taken by the police coz i applied for a replacement already. he said they will give it to the immigration dept. hard lesson learned for being careless! it's hell to lose all my atm, visa card, octopus card and hk id. i'm very grateful that my property was recovered, now i believes that there's still some kind people or they are smart not to use it coz they knew everything was cancelled already.

Good to know you got it back. Plenty do come back. Imho its the main downside of public transport - never lost this much stuff when I drove cos it would still be back in the car!

I hope the person who found it is reading this... "D'OH! $1080 hidden behind the photos?!?!"

Glad to hear you got it back. I lost my wallet on a bus in Toronto once. That night a young girl we knew called and said she'd found it and was bringing it to our house, which she did. Another time I accidently dropped it in a cab as I was getting out at a hotel and the cab driver returned it to the hotel with all cash intact. Cash was my month's rent so was very relieved to get it back.

    Miracles do happen!

Glad I recovered my wallet and all the stuffs in it. After 20 yrs. in H.K. I experienced the pain of cancelling visa cards , atm , octopus, H.K. ID . I have to call all the merchants auto pay thru my visa cards because Hang Seng Bank replaced my visa card( fee waived )but they issued me a different visa card no. so the merchants started sending me letters that they can't process my auto pay, some like PCCW, Netvigator accepts changes of credit card information thru phone or their websites , but the three.com, they require me to go to the branches and fill up another auto pay form. All in all it made my life upside down , learned hard lesson of carelessness , lost around more than 200.HK$ in cash, 335. HK$ for replacement of HK ID 50.HK$ for atm replacement, Hope you learn from others people mistakes.

Who is to say the person who found the wallet is the one who stole the $200?

BTW - What's the deal if you lose your HKID card? - Is it the law to carry it with you at all times?

I've lost mine but I'm 99% sure it's at home somewhere - My daughter was playing with my wallet throwing everything around... Searched high and wide and can't find it though. Dont really want to cancel it when I know it's going to turn up at home.
