Where HK'rs spend the winter
I do see some blue skies when I go hiking. Though it does depend how lucky you are with the day.
There actually have been a few (relatively) clear sky days this winter, more so than normal. So for haze, it can get worse, much worse.
As for temperature, so far we've had a reasonably balmy winter (for HK standard), nothing really that cold. I remember one year, the temp drop to 5 degrees and below and that was cold. Also, it was -3 on top of Tai Mo Shan one year and locals went up there in huge hordes to see ice form.
But do note (as I have mentioned earlier in another thread), HK buildings generally do not have insulation or central heating, so 10 degrees in HK will feel alot colder than 10 degrees in the UK, US or Canada.
And wait until you go to Beijing, which despite it's northern location, also have quite a few public buildings without insulation. Now that is cold.

Interesting, the HK observatory is showing 8.9 degrees in the urban core (HK island & kowloon), but in northern new territories it's 6.5 degrees now and on top of Ngong Ping is 4.4 degrees currently, gasp, it's colder than some European locations now, which is of course much further north than here. I wonder if frost will form on top of Tai Mo Shan tonight or tomorrow night?
Yes that is pretty cold especially HK is pretty humid
