Iphone picked up from Handbag in Central

I thought I will not experience such kind of thing in HK & that too in Central. Me & my wife went for shopping on 29th Dec in Central, we went to 3 shops, Cotton On, Giordano & a small computer accessory store. Cotton On & Giordano were kind of packed with shoppers & you had to make your way through the peoples to see the items. In the night, when we came back, my wife was not able to locate her phone in her handbag, we searched for it & than tried calling the phone, it was temporarily unavailable. We called up Cotton On & Giordano stores and checked with them, if we have dropeed it some how or someone handed over to them... no luck, we visited the shops next day & response was same.
I have not reported the incident to Police, as my wife had to travel & was quite busy, what should I do, should I report it or leave it. Thanks

    6 days past.

It will be long gone, sold here within 24 hours or across into China after a day.

Get yourself a new one and take more care in future.

    Enjoy.

Install something like Prey on your next smart phone.

I lost my blackberry on the old tram once. I couldn't bare buying a new one and bought a secondhand one in Mongkok for about half the price new. It was either a lost phone as well as it still had some personal stuff on there.

Reminds me of a bloke in our local pub in London moaning about the scumbag who broke into his car & stole the radio.
Bystander: "Hmmm. Where did you get the radio in the first place?"
Bloke: "Someone was selling it in the pub"

So the thief managed to 'pick' the phone and not your wife's wallet?

I would have reported it right away. Not hard - you can fill in a form online. that way you get a reference number for an insurance claim and if anyone does find it they know who to return it to.

Also, you can use Find my Iphone to track to the phone too, which is helpful.

While it's likely stolen and long gone, there are also plenty of instances of things being lost that are returned, so I wouldn't have assumed it was stolen straight away.

report it and see whether the incident has been caught on camera.
The border control is quite efficient.

Prey is pretty cool. You can add Iphone, Ipad and your Android Phone all at once and it will give you information where it is instantly.
