First, a disclaimer: I'm probably one of the most outspoken critics of the US public education system. Having said that, this video does not even come close to warrant such an extrapolated generalization of the US education. It's equivalent to generalizing a "typical" British family from watching an episode of The Osbournes.

Be that as it may Climber.... You have to admit that being on international TV (knowingly) and saying something as totally stupid as that, is definitely not going to reflect well on the US, and whatever school she evidently didn't attend!!!!

Ummmm....our President has been doing that since 2001....with all the damage already done it would be really sad if one stupid answer by a beauty queen can do any further damage to an already deeply bruised reputation.....

''Predictions are difficult, especially about the future.”

Dan Quayle (Ex vice-president United States)

Doesnt compare with some from Ronny Reagan but still worth a chuckle !!

Stage fright maybe, but calling Iraq "The Iraq" is inexcusable.

Max hit the nail on the head when he said stupidity knows no racial and cultural bounds. I know plenty of smart Americans (and plenty of dumb ones too).

actually i think what happened was that the girl was trying to 'preempt' questions coming. in her mind were preparation of south africa and iraq on some issues. when a totally unexpected question comes out, she just panicked and started putting things together in an incoherent manner.

in the website she listed her achievements as part of President of Skills and Technical Honor. Wonder what those are...

"Star Student" awards in Advertising Design.

    "Star Student" awards in Photoshop.

Student body President of Skills USA, past two years.

Inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.

Good read imo for my first forum-trolling of the day It is true - that stupidity knows no boundaries, but still - there should be some accountability on the individuals' part to know that they are on national TV (and now International TV, otherwise known as YouTube) and that their words/actions will be heard. Think before you speak.

As for the Bush doing what he's done... who elected him in the first place? :P Not bashing Americans - I've met a fair share of smart ones, and also the not-so-smart ones.
