    Helper visa question

    Hello.

I am currently going through the process of hiring a helper. She is currently working in HK and will go home at the end of the month. She will commence work with us in May. I took the paperwork to the Philippines Consulate yesterday and realized that her passport expires in September. My question is, will immigration process the paperwork and issue her the visa for 2 years if her passport finishes in September?

    Thanks.

You should get her to begin processing a new PH passport now - it takes a long time. HK immigration should begin processing her paperwork and you can have the DH visa transferred to the new passport.

My helper had similar timing. Her passport expired November 2011 but her visa was granted in May 2011. She started the new passport application late August and got her new passport exactly 2 months later. No problem transferring visa over.

Edit: An agency handled (badly) the original paperwork for visa, they supposedly started the paperwork early March but she didn't get the visa until late May.
