UK Photocard Driving License renewal issues

    Hey all,
I've recently been sent my renewal forms for the photograph on my UK driving license, which has now expired.
Having looked through the forms, it seems like I am not allowed to renew this photo if I live in Hong Kong (you have to be legally resident in the UK for at least 3 months and have a UK address to do this).
How have other people dealt with this issue? I have an address I can use in the UK, but I don't know what checks they perform in terms of residency ...
I am probably being overcautious but I am interested to see if anyone else has gone through the same irritation. I drive when I visit the UK, so I kind of need to have a valid photocard!
    Cheers
    N

I ordered a new one to my mother's house last year and had no problem, as did a friend of mine more recently.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying that you will have no issues, just that neither me nor my friend had no issues.

    Hi

I have recently renewed - just gave my parents address in the UK as mine. Don't think they would do any further checks to see if you really live there. They already have you down as a UK resident from when the licence was origianlly issued, so I don't think they will be that interested in verifyingy you further.

It could get complicated though if you are claiming to be non-resident for tax reasons. Can't you get an HK one?
