Like, getting your HKID?
Like, registering a company?
Like, getting from Point A to Point B with a top notch transport system?
Like, getting a handyman at your door on a sunday night 30 minutes after calling?
Like, renting a flat? (try renting one in Paris..)
It's like everything in this world: HK does some stuff faster than anywhere else in the world and some other much slower....
Don't really see the big deal here, except that Monk, Aka DG felt the need this morning to create a little thread to moan about something ;-)

HKID - A huge waste of my time sitting in that awful immigration building...for an unnecessary card that I don't like having.
Transport - I'll conceed that.
Handyman - I've never really needed a handyman quite so desperately but good to know they exist if I ever need a shelft putting up superfast on a Sunday night.
Renting a flat - Paris must be bad....I find the experince to be a nightmare here from start to end.
But you're right...I'm enjoying having a moan too.

this blog posts documents some of the same points raised in the thread with more colourful language and pics The FAST pace of life in Hong Kong | Hong Kong Sucks
this must be the reason everyone says it's fast here...
World's Fastest Growing Millionaire Population? It's in Hong Kong - China Real Time Report - WSJ
>> how slowly the wheels of business turn compared to Europe
Ever thought of how easy it is to fire someone in HK compared to Europe. THAT is fast paced.
JJ - don't see your point.
Lack or architecture vs fast pasted....hmmmm, I know you miss LC and getting licks (sorry likes) from him but.....
and I wasn't moaning about the lack of architecture, I only debated with EC who felt the need to try to convince us that HK was a well planned city with striking architecture.
disclamer: :-) :-) :-)

I think that people are fast at socialising sometimes, they will book themselves into 3 activities for different people in different locations! Fair enough that they're trying to utilise their weekends but it kind of makes you feel like a cheap ho bag that is only good for a 2-3 hours
