HK Chinese Wedding Banquet- Attire? Gift?

I've been here 2 weeks and I'm now invited to a male colleague's wedding banquet at the end of the month. It's on a Thursday evening, Happy Valley. What is appropriate attire for such an occaison? Is a western-style dress (cocktail, long?) appropriate, or does it need to be Chinese?

I understand gift is supposed to be money in the red enevelope, right? How much $$? Where can I get the red envelopes?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

There really isn't a dress code for wedding banquets here. Some people will turn up in jeans and t-shirts, others in suits/fancy dresses. Don't over do it - anything that counts as "smart casual" upwards will be fine.

The price is a bit variable - essentially locals seem to regard the money you put in the envelope if you attend as somewhere around the cost of the meal, so anything from $500 to $1500 per head or even more for the very flashest does.

There isn't need for red envelopes these days. You buy wedding cash vouchers from most of the banks in Hong Kong and they will provide you with the appropriate envelope. I usually prefer to give gift vouchers from the big department stores, like Lane Crawford, Seibu and the like. Envelopes are of course provided. In fact, you'd find that Lane Crawford provides more than just an envelope. Go see for yourself.
