I go out drinking a few nights a week and I have never lost my wallet or phone, or sent drunken text messages, etc.

I had a big night out last night but drank two pints of water before bed, and feel great. If I ever have hangovers in the morning, I find that making a spicy salad with tomatoes and loads of tabasco, salt and pepper sorts me out.
If you have hangovers at a different time of day, it's probably time to seek help!

How can you send drunken text messages if you lose your phone?

Hangover is caused by the liver processing toxins and dehydration.

I once did some reading and "developed" a strategy that works very well for me.

    Before drinking:

    - Drink plenty of water (1 glas for every glass of alcohol)
    - Vitamins (ie. multivitamin is fine, vitamin C too)
    (both especially before sleeping)
    - Eating well before drinking helps
    - Eating fatty before helps too (slows ingestion giving the liver more time to process the nasty stuff)
(Mediterranean style: 1 spoon olive oil before, never tried myself)

    After drinking:

    - Plenty Water
    - Eggs (cysteine breaks down toxins)
    - Banana or other potassium rich food
    - Fruit juice (fruit sugar energy, vitamins, vit C and B)
    - Multivitamin
    - 1000mg Vitamin C and 250 mg B12
    - Essential Fatty Acids (ie. Flaxseed Oil, Fish Oil, or a Salmon fillet will just do fine)

From experience, the before part is much easier to follow then the after part

Yes, definitely, try it. Usually it's just a few of those things not all of them. Whatever is handy at the moment. It sounds complicated but it is not.
