Isn't it customary to pass O'level English before applying for a University place?

Its not nice to confuse the kid, even if you aren't being serious. I'm not even sure what an O level in English is, but its not something that is used in the US to determine admissibility to a university. When I was applying to foreign universities back in the day I remember them using SAT/ ACT scores in place of local admissions requirements.

You can also try Hong Kong University and City U.

If he comes from the US they would probably assume a satisfactory level of English, but it is worrying that someone can complete High School and expect to go to University when their writing skills are so poor. I see it every day though and nearly all of them go on to get Honours degrees.

    Perhaps Lingnan?

But for someone with poor English and looking for an easy Uni to get into may need to examine other career choices.

    It's the USA--maybe he's an athlete.
