Question receiving parcels in Hong Kong

    Hi,

My mum is returning back to Hong Kong in the next few weeks. She has been living in the uk for 30+ years. We was looking to send over her belongings (clothes) which prob weigh 10 - 20kg . However she is unsure how this is delivered as she can not remember ever receiving parcels before when living in hk.

She will be staying in a lift which has a postbox on the ground floor. Does she get a card and have to collect from the depo or does someone turn up and knock?

    any advice would be appreciated.

    thanks,
    rich

The Post Office will usually attempt delivery and if noone is home they will leave a card in the mailbox to advise which Post Office to collect it from and the time limit, etc.

Although depending on the parcel and how it's been sent they may also leave it with your building's staff - doorman/security/etc.

    Also, I have to...

If you use a courier, e.g. DHL, they will deliver to the door. The Post Office, not always.

20kg of clothes for 30+ years of living in the UK? really? You sure there is not other stuff she would want to bring? If not, just go for excess luggage on the plane - you can pay for unaccompanied baggage which is cheaper than excess baggage. Or if it's stuff she does not want for months, seamail is the cheapest!

This sounds like an option, can you suggest any companies. I have tried a search on google with little success.

    thanks

For baggage it's whichever airline she's flying with. For sea mail, try the Post Office!
