    ever experienced snickering?

I was wondering if anyone else here has ever been snickered at before? (particularly if you are non-chinese) I've noticed that occassionally someone will snicker at me usually just before or as they pass me. Is this common in HK?

In some bars in Wan Chai they will do that - but it is extra.

Okay, I gotta admit it- that was excellent

Back on topic to the OP- I've never noticed snickering of the non-confectionary variety. You're not wearing one of those t-shirts with mysterious Chinese writing, are you?

This clacking/suckering the tongue tip with the upper palate makes which you seem to refer to as "snickering" is extremely common. Once it was explained to me that people do it as a way to fidget - some people don't even know that they are doing it until it is pointed out to them (normally I do this when only among good friends that would be classified as local.)
