Don't forget Pui Pui the crocodile:

I once came across a red crab in the middle of the woods on Chi Ma Wan peninsula, high up on the hills. I don't think this crab ever saw the sea.

Looked like this (have a real photo somewhere):

Indeed - I've been know to go there for a quick browse and still be there several hours later. There are some interesting discussions and other stuff there as well (like the war diary extracts that he does every December on the same day).

I wonder if anyone who can translate Chinese into English would be prepared to look at some of the historical Chinese language newspapers on a web site I know of,based at a main Hong Kong library(I can`t remember the exact link but I can find it and try and post it here)and see if any interesting results come up if the phrase "strange animal" or "strange animal/creature/mammal etc in Hong Kong is entered in the search bar. Then if anything interesting comes up we could discuss it here?If the English language newspapers are anything to go by,there could be a rich treasure trove of stories.

To me it was since I never came across a wild one before, let alone expect it on the footpath going around the Peak.
I actually had to look up if they are native to HK or if it might have been an escapee.
